- to repeat and update the technical knowledge of the instructor for training the students
- to train the instructor to teach the basic subjects and flight exercises
- to make sure that the instructor’s flying is on appropriate high standard
- to teach the instructor basics of the study and their assertion to the PPL level
Entry requirements to start the training:
Before the applicant receives the approval to start the training to obtain the qualification of flight instructor FI(A), he/she must:
- have minimum 200 hours in the air, out of which minimum 100 hours must be as a pilot in command, if he is a ATPL(A) or CPL(A) holder or 150 hours as a pilot in command, if he is a PPL(A) holder.
- fulfill the requirements of knowledge for CPL(A) stated in Annex 1 of JAR-FCL 1.470
- fly at least 30 hours on single engine piston aircraft out of which at least 5 hours must be flown in the time frame of 6 months before the entry flight exam, stated in the following paragraph f)
- undertake at least 10 hours of flight training in compliance with the engines, out of which maximum 5 hours can be done on FNPT or on the flight simulator
- have minimum 20 hours of flights as a pilot in command including the flight with total length of minimum 540 km (300 miles), where the condition is that he/she must land with complete switching off the engines on two different airports
- to successfully pass the special entry exam with flight instructor, qualified in accordance to JAR-FCL 1.240 in the time frame of 6 months just before the commencement of the course. This flight exam must evaluate the qualification of the applicant to undertake the course/training
The training process
The theoretical preparation comprises of the following parts described in AMC FCL 1.340:
- education and learning, sequential exams
- self-study and active presence of the applicant during the theoretical preparation of the students before the commencement of the practical training on PPL(A) and land preparations included in the flight training scheme of PPL(A) and CPL(A)
The renewal of the qualification FI(A)
The target of the renewal training of the FI(A) qualification is to renew the habits of the applicant to successfully pass the practical exam of the professional qualification for the qualification renewal of FI(A).
- to repeat and update the technical knowledge of the instructor
- to repeat and update the methodical knowledge of the instructor by participating on repeated seminar of the flight instructor as per the AMC – FCL 1.355 (a) (2)
Before the applicant is allowed to start the approved course training to renew the flight instructor qualification FI (A):
- he/she must have been an FI (A) qualification holder previously
- must be a holder of valid qualification license
- must be a holder of valid certificate of health fitness according to the class
- must be a holder of valid radio operator license
